Composition Technique
in the Concert Overture «Antichrist»

Peter Maxwell davies (1934–2016) was an outstanding British composer of the second half of the 20th century, who, together with H. Birtwistle
and A. Goehr, belonged to the so-called “Manchester School”. The basis of the composer’s work is working with borrowed sources. Using the
example of the concert overture “Antichrist”, some of the principles of the composer’s work will be shown. Due to the fact that Peter Maxwell Davies
was one of the fi rst in British music to implemented the principles of serial work in his compositions, special attention in the article will be paid to
the analysis of pitch and its semantic connotations.
