Music and Time Annotation << Back Formation of the School of Playing the Ancient Musical Instrument Zurna in the City of Sheki of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.T. Tohrabl&#305; The article analyzes the organological, historical, theoretical and ethnomusicological issues of the performing arts of zurna in the city of Sheki, which is one of the strongest regional schools in Azerbaijan. The main purpose of the article is to analyze the structure, shape, sound capabilities, performance qualities of the zurn instrument and explore its unique characteristics. The article highlights the development of genre samples included in the repertoire of the instrument, which is closely connected with local ethnography and social and cultural life, the performance features of the zurna masters. The zurna instrument, which belongs to the oldest samples among Azerbaijani folk musical instruments, has not been subjected to detailed scientifi c and theoretical analysis, and therefore the study of this instrument is of great importance. From this point of view, the article discusses the creation of the zurna instrument, its structure, sound characteristics, timbre capabilities and the history of its development and improvement against the backdrop of national folk performing arts. In addition, prototypes of the zurna instrument found from various sources during archaeological finds were discussed, and information obtained during expeditions conducted in the Sheki zone over the past hundred years was studied. The article highlights specific examples of the repertoire of the zurna instrument and the interaction of zurna melodies with various musical genres (epic and folk music, classical mugham art and dances).
