The article is devoted to the study of the pedagogical process aimed at the development of children’s musical thinking in the classes of instrumentalists of institutions of additional education. The author comes to the conclusion that the musical image in the instrumentalperforming class includes technical-tactical (in the context of sensory-tactile, motor-motor), emotional-sensual, logical-constructive, artisticexpressive and historical-cultural components. It is established that the development of the musical thinking of children (beginning performers) is a deeply determined process, which: is determined by the common goal of the integrated, holistic formation of an instrumental musician at the level of horizons, erudition, mastering and applying the ideal model of performing actions-movements, using performing analysis, mastering the art of interpretation ; manifests itself in interaction with productive perception, creative imagination, listening experience, impressions, emotional and sensory revelation, empathy, etc.; mediated by an artistic image based on the trinity of material, spiritual, logical; is optimized in the classes of instrumentalists in institutions of additional education with the help of writing (author’s creativity), which eradicates authoritarianism, "dynamic stereotypes", "fluent performance concept".
