Music and Time Annotation << Back On the Concept of "Reinterpretation" in the Performing Arts (on the Example of the Flute Repertoire) I.V. Stachinskaya The article raises the question of the performing activity of a professional instrumentalist as a phenomenon of reinterpretation of a composer’s text. In the process of rethinking various interpretations, the performer comes to his own understanding of the original author's intention, investing in his interpretation a modern reading. In contrast to interpretation as a secondary artistic activity reproducing another artistic activity, reinterpretation acts as a new artistic product, where the composer’s text is present only at the level of an element of the artistic system. Thus, the performer’s activity as a reinterpreter acquires the status of a primary artistic activity, acting as a creative act that re-forms the concept of a work, which implies a rethinking of tradition. As a result, the experience of reinterpretation is qualifi ed as an original, independent artistic whole, which requires a rethinking of the communicative relevance of the author’s message. The consistency between "data" and "created" in the process of interpreting the author’s intention is directly dependent on the culture of thinking of the performer. Creative creation as an artistic discovery is potentially embedded in the very concept of "concert performer".
