Music and Time Annotation << Back Playing the Piano in the Course of Harmony: a Pedagogical Experiment Conducted at the Department of Theory and History of Institute of Military Conductors B.G. Gnilov, I.D. Nikoltsev The article deals with a pedagogical experiment carried out at the Department of Theory and History of Music of the Institute of Military Conductors. The essence of the experiment is the introduction of a new system of exercises for playing the piano. These exercises do not represent the usual harmonization of the melody in the choral spirit, but rather small musical pieces in an optimized exposition. Exercise material includes excerpts from popular and classical music. The purpose of the experiment is to develop skills, in the support of which students will feel more free when playing music on the keyboard. Therefore, one of the most important criteria by which the quality of the exercise by a student is assessed is speed and freedom when playing the exercise on the piano.
