Music and Time Annotation << Back Tatiana Smirnova’s Triptych for Cello and Piano «Romantic Message to R. Schumann» as One of the Neo-Romantic Style Evidences M.V. Milovkina «In general, I remain faithful to my favorite destination – romantic lyrics». This confession of the famous and original Moscow composer, author of more than five hundred works of different genres, Tatyana Smirnova, was especially clearly manifested in her macrocycle «Romantic Messages and Dedications». The central place in the macrocycle is occupied by works stylistically associated with composers of the 19th century, although it includes, for example, the Concert-Symphony «Romantic Message to Prokofi ev», and on the other hand, «Dedication to D. Scarlatti». However, already here, in the titles of her works, Smirnova positions herself as a neo-romanticist – an adherent of the style direction, which has become one of the leading since the 70s of the last century. This article presents the experience of the analytical comprehension of one of the most specific works in this regard – the triptych for cello and piano «Romantic message to R. Schumann». Comprehension of stylistic connections with the brightest representative of German romanticism is accomplished in different aspects – figurative and contensive, dramatic and compositional.
