Neo-romanticism in the music of the late twentieth century. Concert – Elegy for Cello and Orchestra by Roman Ledenev |
E.N. Denisova
The article is devoted to the work of a modern composer, a representative of the Moscow school of composition. Roman Ledenev is a composer whose music has multiple intersections with the neo-romantic style in contemporary art. At the same time, the main genre, in which the brightest aspects of the composer's artistic personality are most fully revealed, is an instrumental concert. It was here that the lyric-romantic properties of the author’s creative thinking were reflected. The concert - elegy for cello and orchestra (Op. 28, 1980) is a good example of the embodiment of neo-romanticism in music of the late twentieth century. Using this score as an example, the article traces the way the composer translates romantic aesthetics at the level of genre synthesis, dramaturgy, composition, principles of thematic development of the main themes of the concert, harmonic and timbre solution of the score. Based on the analysis of the musical text, it is concluded that the individual facets of romantic aesthetics were organically embodied in the work of Roman Ledenev. The composer's works are a bright page of the neo-romantic direction in music of the late twentieth century.
