Music Institute in the context of competence-based education

The problem of discussion in the article is the current contradiction between the need to modernize domestic music education in line with the competence-oriented model and the real readiness of music universities for such a restructuring. One of the Central system-forming components of the new educational model should be the requirements of employers to the total result of the educational process – the level of preparedness (competence) of the University graduate to the conditions of their professional activity. Without identifying such requirements, analyzing them, and differentiating them, it is impossible to build an educational process that is modernized to meet the requirements of a new educational paradigm. In the field of music education today, there is not enough comprehensive research aimed at finding answers to fundamentally important questions: Who is the employer for graduates today? What are the requirements of these employers for training their future employees? Is there a fundamental difference in the requirements of employers for graduates of different universities, or are these requirements always the same? This article presents the results of a similar study conducted by employees of the Department of brass bands and ensembles of the Moscow state Institute of culture in the period from 2017 to 2020.
