Music and Time Annotation << Back Polymelodics in the compositions of Roman Ledenyov E.V. Fedyanina Among the most considerable modifications that have occurred in the world of musical language in 20th – early 21st centuries is expansion of its elements' concepts. It also concerns the area of melodics: traditionally (since Modern Ages) the melody expressed in one-voice form has gradually acquired multidimensionality and has become polymelodics. The term «polymelodics» has appeared in the research of B. Asafiev in connection with creation of Medtner, Rachmaninov and Scriabin, whereupon it has become in use of the other authors. In this article the formulation of definition of polymelodics and classification of its forms are proposed. The polymelodics phenomenon is considered in the article by the example of works of the recognized melodist of Moscow composer's school Roman Ledenyov since polymelodics is presented in his compositions quite broadly and differently. We can say that it has become the height of manifestation of composer's melodiousness and one of the most important directions of the development of contemporary melodics in the whole. Keywords: R.
