From Micropolyphony in the Scerzo of the Third Symphony by S.S. Prokofi ev to the Ruled Aleatorica in the Symphonic Pieces by S.M. Slonimsky |

The article deals with a texture phenomenon that appeared in Prokofiev’s music and developed nowadays. In particular, texture alterations of the thematic material of the Scherzo in the Third Symphony by S.S. Prokofiev, demonstrated in the form of micropolyphony, are shown. This new device in the character of the musical content of the piece was further more worked on by S.M. Slonimsky as a composition principle of solving the dramaturgy of his symphonic canvases, connected this time with the directed aleatory. For the first time, this principle was used by the composer in his orchestra score "Concert-buff". The authors come to the conclusion that Slonimsky converted Prokofiev’s texture device into the compositional principle at all three levels of the form that turns it into an author’s mark of the composer.
