Music and Time Annotation << Back Some Features of the Sonatas for Winds of Paul Hindemith (Sonatas for Flute with Piano (1936), Bassoon with Piano (1938) and Alto Saxophone and French Horn (1943) with Piano) N.I. Brazhnikova The article refers to the chamber and instrumental works of the great German composer of the XX century Paul Hindemith, namely his three sonatas for wind instruments and piano. Considered opus appeared in the period of greatest maturity of the musician (the second half of 1930) and confirmed not only sustainable Hindemith’s interest and love for brass voices, but also some of the characteristics of the musical language of the author. The aim of this article was an attempt to find a common and distinct features of the three sonatas. This became possible when referring to the three main tasks: to consider the peculiarities of formation and musical language of each composition, to identify features of the program (if any), to compare and summarize the results. Thus, the solution of complex problems took place with the help of analytical and comparative-typological method. Note important – selected sonatas are an integral part of the educational repertoire of Russian music students of universities (in the class of special instrument and class chamber ensemble), and therefore attempted an analytical essay increasingly addressed young artists just starting out with chamber ensembles for wind instruments and piano Paul Hindemith.
