Music and Time Annotation << Back Criminality of the Artist (about Adrian Leverk&#252;hn’s Psychology) G.R. Konson The article deals with the problem of violation of ethical principles of the composer and wider – the artist who in the novel by T. Mann consciously sold his soul to the devil. This fact was problematic indicator which is revealing the key point in the moral and social foundations of personality. The relevance of this study is in this formulation of the problem. The author of the article in his exploring the essence of the musician Adrian Leverkühn – who metaphorically had recourse to the help of the devil – reveals the moral reasons for the phenomenon of turning an individual into a monster. This idea is first formulated as a hypothesis. Then researcher shows that diabolical entity is in the nature of man and its unusual expression only exacerbates the self-exposure of hero through the revelation of his infernal Doppelganger. The novelty of the research is in study the nature of human Ego and infernal Ego which is also part of the human Ego. In the end the researcher comes to the conclusion that in the Adrian’s pursuing of superman’s status he becomes a potential criminal and his destructive plans exceed the activity of the guest from the hell. The integral method of analysis of art texts, based on the combination of philosophical, linguistic, psychological, social and criminological, musicological analysis, is used in the article.
