Music and Time Annotation << Back Opera work «A King, Riding» by Klaas de Vries as Martaler`s Masterpiece E.V. Sanicheva The article goes on the Dutch composer Klaas de Vries, his opera work «A King, Riding» and the situation on contemporary music scene in the Netherlands as part of international music arena and many different influences coming from across musical Europe. The article also brings to light the how it all has been made, the juxtaposition and collaboration of composer and stage director through many and many schools, manners, influences and so-called «fashion» tendencies in contemporary music and theater culture as well as the activity of some significant composers and stage directors of our days. Feature of handwriting of Marthaler – the maximum expressiveness at a minimum of means – as well as possible approached a form of «drama monologues» of the opera. The question of authenticity of the essence of the personality is at the center raised. Six monologues of six characters of the novel formed the basis of opera composition, and illusory life only of the mentioned hero becomes its driving force. Keywords: Klaas de Vries, Ch.
