Music and Time Annotation << Back Kosaku Yamada’s Orchestral Compositions and Formation of Japanese Simphonism A. Maksimova Article is devoted to the figure of Kosaku Yamada and the first stage of formation of a simphonism in Japan as a whole. The first samples of symphonic genres created by K. Yamada laid the foundation for work of the subsequent generations of composers of Japan in this sphere. The analysis of four early symphonic works of the composer allowed to reveal the main directions of his creative search: to development models of genres in the first symphony and the first symphonic poem and to search in the sphere mainly of the national characteristic – in the second symphonic poem and the second symphony. Evolution of these searches proceeded in the following direction: from citing, through the appeal to a national (all-Far East) esthetics, to development of a tematism which would answered features of a Japanese art ideal, and also receptions of its development, dramatic and forming. The main line through all early period of symphonic creativity of K. Yamada passes need of finding of own composer style. The second symphony, embodying itself a successful example of actually yamadovsky style at an early stage of his creativity is the most indicative in this plan.
