Music and Time Annotation << Back From Bach to Siloti: the History of Reworking of One Concert S. Izotova The article is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Russian pianist and conductor Alexander Siloti (1863–1945), to his activity as a transcriber and editor of Bach’s works. The author is analyzing his arrangement of the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in E Major BWV 1042. The manuscripts kept in the archives of St. Petersburg, Moscow and Berlin as well as the first edition of Siloti’s transcription are researched in the article. The author of the article presents textual analysis of the corrections contained in Siloti’s manuscripts which allows to understand all the stages of his work. The publication includes a number of facsimiles from Siloti’s and Bach’s manuscripts. The article shows the value of the arrangement of Alexander Siloti and the significance of his activity in the reception history of Bach’s works. Keywords: J. S. Bach, A.I.
