Music and Time Annotation << Back Ptolemy and Boethius. The problem of reception of antique sciences in the Boethius’ quadrivial works S. Lebedev Ptolemy is one of the main authorities for Boethius’ study of music («Foundations of Music», beginning of the 6th century). This paper investigates reception of «Harmonics» of Ptolemy (such as determination of the object of science, fundamental definition of harmony, classification of musical intervals, terminology etc.) to outline specifics of Boethius’ individuality as scholar and interpreter.
