About the Composition
«Cassandra’s Dream Song»
for Flute by Brian Ferneyhough |

The article examines the composition for solo flute "Cassandra's dream song" by Brian Ferneyhough in the context of the composer's work.
It was necessary to analyze the features of notation and non-traditional ways of playing, gestures and their relationship in sections, methods of
articulation and emphatic "physicality", interpretation of the mobile form and its performing interpretations. These procedures not only distinguish
the composers of modern music from each other, but also periodize the direction of "new complexity". The article uses an integrated approach
as a combination of musical-structural and hermeneutic (interpretive) aspects. The conclusions emphasize the determinacy of B. Ferneyhough’s
aesthetics by the focus on the modernist principle of updating the musical language. The proposed analysis of the composition "Cassandra's
dream song" is relevant for both musicologists and instrumentalists.
