Dunaev The essay systematizes information about various aspects of work on the concert arrangement of the march "Farewell of Slavyanka" by V. Agapkin – from the formation of the idea itself to the fi rst performance. The main attention is paid to the essence of the concert arrangement, refl ected in the careful preservation of the author's idea, in the search for presentation techniques aimed at enhancing the heroic beginning. The well-known technique in the performance practice of a brass band of emphasizing solo episodes by having groups of musicians stand up acquires special emotional load and artistic signifi cance in the arrangement. The features of the score for performance in the open air, created on the basis of the concert arrangement taking into account the performance conditions, are also revealed.
