Contents of Public Concerts Programs With Violinists Participation in Russia in 1800s–1830s
T.B. Sukhanova

The article is devoted to the programs of public concerts with the participation of professional violinists that sounded on the concert stages
of St. Petersburg and Moscow in the 1800s–1830s. The work analyzes the content of concert programs of domestic (G. Rachinsky, Kuchinsky,
I. Semenov, M. Ershova, A. Polyakov) and foreign violinists (K. Kuhn, F. Böhm, I. Grassi, U. Bull, L. Maurer, I.A. Behr, M. Moravec, brothers
Eichhorn), with the aim of identifying patterns in their formation taking into account changes in aesthetic attitudes and the needs of the public.
The following tasks are solved using the material of announcements, reviews and playbills published in Russian periodicals of the 1800s–1830s:
systematization of the content of public concert programs, determination of the repertoire directions of concerts of the period under consideration
and the tendencies characteristic of them. The result of the study was the identifi cation of a number of regularities that determined the content
of concert programs: general for the designated period (vocal and instrumental content, unifi cation of international creative forces, performance
of works of contemporary music) and specifi c (the increasing importance of Russian themes after 1812, the emergence of thematically and
stylistically homogeneous programs in the 1820s, the movement toward homogeneity of instrumental composition in the content of public concerts
and the consolidation of works of the “romantic music school” in the repertoire in the 1830s).
Keywords: concert programs, violin art of the fi rst half of the 19th century, Russian violinists of the 19th century, directions of concert
repertoire, vocal and instrumental concert, genres of instrumental music of the 19th century.
