Music and Time Annotation << Back Means of Expression Modern Horns A.V. Furukin The French horn is one of the richest instruments of the brass and symphony orchestras. The instrument has evolved from a hunting horn to a full-fl edged instrument, and throughout the entire period of its development, the instrument has been distinguished by a wide variety of expressive possibilities. During its fi rst performance in the orchestra, the French horn goes through a long evolutionary path. When the French horn appeared in the orchestra, it was a hunting horn, twisted from one and a half to four and a half turns, today it is the same instrument, with a wide variety of expressive possibilities. Given its nature, rich timbre, great stimulating possibilities, design features of modern models, we can confi dently say that French horn players today have every opportunity to reveal their creative abilities and solve various artistic problems.
