Music and Time Annotation << Back Alexander Cherepnin in the Artistic Space of Georgia: Diverse "Dialogues" of the Russian Musician With Eastern Cultures N.L. Ruban In the year of the anniversary of Alexander Nikolaevich Cherepnin (the composer turns 125 in 2024), a Russian musician with many talents and a bright dramatic destiny, who became the “Artist of the World,” I would like to take a particularly close look at every “step” of his artistic career. This article is the fi rst to comprehensively examine the years of A. Cherepnin’s life and work, which he spent in Tifl is. These years became the most important stage in the composer’s active adoption of the musical, theatrical and artistic traditions of the Caucasus and Transcaucasia. At this time, the universalism of the talent of a composer as a pianist, educator and critic was affi rmed. The author of this article presents the fi rst composer's experiments in the fi eld of neo-Bachianism and the system of dialogues between romanticism and the avant-garde, St. Petersburg and Georgia, which determined the individual aspects of Tcherepnin's personality.
