Silence, Sound, Noise and Musicthe |
A.N. Lipov
Music is often simply described as organized sounds framed by silence. Recorded music has always offered this defi nition with increasingly
intact (and now digitized) sounds before and after musical pieces, as well as between movements. Any extraneous "noises" before or inside
the performance itself, such as the creaking of instruments, the sounds of valves and even breathing, are often "cleaned up" in post-production.
Even the most "noisy" genres, such as heavy metal and other rock music, where distortion is used as expressive effects, are often presented on
recordings with clean quiet frames between tracks. In the translation of the scientifi c article, noise and music are considered from the perspective
of their interaction and reciprocity, as a continuous process that determines the natural development of musical art.
Keywords: silence, types of musical silence, musical silence, silence and modern music, musical sound, noise, musical noise and recordings,
musical noise and rock music.
