Music and Time Annotation << Back Opera Houses in Vietnam in the XIX – early XX Century Zh.S. Tikhonova, K.Y. Alagaeva The article is devoted to a problem that is very relevant for understanding the cultural space of modern Vietnam: we are talking about the traditional musical culture of the Tuong, Teo and Kai Luong theaters. The article gives a brief historical digression into the history of the formation of theaters, an attempt is made to characterize the specifi c features of each national genre. Analyzing the differences of the Tuong Theater, the author explores the classical Vietnamese opera, which originated as a court spectacle; describing the Teo Theater, its existence outside confl icts and struggles is emphasized, since the theater appeared as a celebration in honor of the harvest. Rethinking the musicality of the relatively young Kai Luong genre, the author points to the ability to adapt to the conditions of a colonial semi-feudal society. The article touches upon the peculiarities of the policy regarding intangible cultural heritage, which is carried out in modern Vietnam, when a special place in the construction of the image of national culture is given to song folklore.
