Luk’anenko The purpose of the article is to identify the features of the interpretation of the genre of the musical in the work of Maxim Isaakovich Dunayevsky, who made a great contribution to the development of modern domestic mass musical culture. His music has received public recognition, operettas and musicals created by him have firmly entered the repertoire of Russian theaters. The article attempts to create a holistic view of the artistic concept of the musical "Scarlet Sails", considering it through the prism of the dramatic features of the performance, in the aspect of the interaction of style and genre, as a phenomenon of synthesis of academic and pop music. It also presents an aesthetic assessment of the interpretation of A. Green's literary plot, translated by the composer into the language of music, a conclusion is made about the high potential of the artistic merits of a musical performance in the interpretation of a literary masterpiece.
