Amrakhov Piano trio in the work of Azerbaijani composers in the 20–80s of the XX century The article examines the process of formation and development of the piano trio genre in the work of Azerbaijani composers in the 20–80th of the XXth century. The role of U. Hajibayli, A. Zeynalli, and a number of Russian composers in the process of its formation is noted. It is emphasized in the article that the heyday of this variety of ensemble music falls on the second half of the XXth century. Among the numerous trios created during this period, the works of O. Zulfugarov, T. Bakikhanov, N. Mamedov, G. Abdullazade, S. Faradjev stand out. Under the influence of the best traditions of European and Russian music, the work of G. Garayev, the piano trio is modified, its fi gurative and emotional sphere expands, tragic, grotesque, fantastic images appear. However, the dominant quality in all trios is its lyricism and optimistic attitude. There is a process of convergence between the chamber ensemble and symphonic music, which leads to the expansion of the means of musical expression, the dramatization of the genre, its scale, and the widespread introduction of the principles of polyphonic development. Gradually, the process of penetration into the piano trio of the features of folk music deepens.
