Music and Time Annotation << Back On the Stylistics of Texture in "Organ Symphony" by Arif Mirzoev N.E. Bayramalibeyli The article examines "Organ symphony in memory of J.S. Bach. Ornamental-mugham, choral and polyphonic variations in five parts" (opus 30, 1984) – one of the samples of the memorial genre in the work of Arif Mirzoev. The symphony reflected neoclassical trends in Azerbaijani professional music of the second half of the 20th century and is interesting for the originality, novelty of its artistic conception and the peculiarities of the technical methods of its implementation. The article notes the special role of texture in a work, which becomes one of the most important means of conveying the author’s artistic concept and the embodiment of a stylistic idea. There are several main aspects related to the textural specificity of the composition. Mirzoev, a concentrating organist and a specialist in the work of J.S. Bach, managed in his symphony not only to creatively convey the essence of Bach's stylistics, including textural, but also to subtly synthesize it with signs of mughamity (intonation sistem, features of the sound fabric of mugham improvisation and its polyphonic resources in ensemble performance).
