Verdiyeva The article talks about one of the outstanding figures of Azerbaijani folk music Elchin Hashimov, who is a teacher, People’s Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Associate Professor of the Azerbaijan National Conservatory, who had great services in the development of modern tar performance, learning technical secrets. The article provides general information about tar, an ancient national musical instrument of Azerbaijan, an oral traditional music genre, mainly in the context of the development of Azerbaijani musical culture. On the other hand, the historical and evolutionary development of the tar, its technical and artistic capabilities, and the features of its performance in ensembles and orchestras are mentioned. The article mentions that the artist is a virtuoso connoisseur of the technical capabilities of the national musical instrument of Azerbaijan, the tar. The author provides extensive information about Elchin Hashimov’s role in the development of Azerbaijani tar performance art and his signature is very important and signifi cant in the history of Azerbaijani culture.
