Kabalevsky (70th Anniversary of This Piece) Ge Chang This article describes the Third Piano Concerto of Kabalevsky – this is one of the most popular teaching pieces of the Soviet era. In the concerto, Kabalevsky quotes the melody of a famous song sung by young pioneers across the country over the years. The outstanding performance of the famous pianist Emir Gilliers has been regarded as a standard by teachers and students for many years. In the article, the third concerto is described from the perspective of performance and method. The article also said that Kabalevsky’s wonderful pieces had long been forgotten. It is hoped that these pieces will be reintroduced into young people’s programs, including pianists.
