Tchaikovsky’s Opera "Eugeny Onegin", Study of the Tenors’ Voice |
Hao Linchong
The object of the study is the score of the opera "Eugene Onegin" by P.I. Tchaikovsky. Despite the high degree of study and great interest in the work both from a performance point of view and from a scientific point of view, the image of one of the main characters – Vladimir Lensky – contains many mysteries. In addition, in order to avoid the consolidation of cliched ideas one way or another characteristic of any era, it is necessary to regularly refer to the score of the composition in order to update and re-evaluate the previously identified positions.
Through the analysis of musical means of expression in the work, the task of a deeper understanding of the meaning of this figure in opera is set. The revealed features represent the character, on the one hand, in its dynamic development, and on the other, allow us to consider the hero as an integral personality that retains its characteristic features throughout the entire action. The degree of influence of Lensky’s thematism on other parties (first of all, Tatiana and Onegin) is determined. The results obtained in the work, obviously, cannot claim to complete research in this field, but they are a necessary stage in the study of one of the greatest masterpieces of opera art and can be useful both for educational and practical purposes.
Keywords: P.I. Tchaikovsky, A.S. Pushkin, Russian opera, Eugene Onegin, Lensky, tenor, musical theater.
