Markelova In this article, the author made an attempt to comprehend the dramaturgy of G.P. Dmitriev to verses by T.G. Shevchenko «The Apostle of Truth»: the historical context of the literary sources underlying the numbers of the cycle is given, the figurative and semantic aspect of each number, its role in the dramatic line of the composition is analyzed, the conclusions are substantiated. The article also touches upon issues related to the choral creativity a cappella of the composer and the possible reasons for his appeal to Shevchenko’s poetry.
