Music and Time Annotation << Back Forms of Improvisation in the Choreographic Art Y.S. Savostyanova Article is devoted to the actual forms of improvisation in the choreographic art of the 20th–early 21st century. The author provides the examples and makes an attempt to systematize improvisation concerning the ways of its use in the dance-pedagogical, art research context and in the staging practice of choreographers. In the process of creative activity many teachers and choreographers use different dance improvisation techniques in order to reach certain targets (whether it is search for movement material, own style or way to a new form of representation). The review of techniques and technologies let us to make the conclusion that improvisation is in great demand and has a wide range of its use in practice. Nowadays, dance improvisation is a discipline with its own rights. It follows, that dance improvisation has necessary resources contributing to further development of 21st century choreographic art.
