Sharnina In the study, the author of the article carried out a methodological and performing analysis of S. Barber’s romances op.10 No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 to the words of J. Joyce, the main aspects of the structural, harmonic and compositional analysis of romances based on performing experience are considered. Vocal and technical difficulties acquire great importance in connection with the embodiment of the intonation of the musical language of S. Barber in combination with the poetic word of J. Joyce. The aim of the research is to conduct a detailed analysis of the romances op. No. 10 S. Barbera No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 with the definition of the main difficulties that a modern vocal performer faces in the process of preparing the correct interpretation of this work, as well as in identifying various possible solutions to the tasks posed. The author of the study, reasonably, asserts that the performance of romances Op. 10 opens up tremendous opportunities for the embodiment of the composer's instructions and the disclosure of the entire creative author’s intention only when the entire composition is performed in its entirety. The scientifi c novelty of the research is contained in a unique, practically one-of-a-kind, analysis of S. Barber's romances op.10, based on his own performing experience. As a result of the research, it has been proved that the orientation of the poetic material dictates certain vocal and technical difficulties in performing this opus.
