The Formation of Dramatic Symphonism in the Early Work of Joseph Haydn |
N.B. Seliverstova
The article is devoted to the era of the origin and development of the European classical symphony in its close ties with the drama and opera theater. Using the example of Haydn’s D minor symphony No. 26 "Lamentatione", the article examines the peculiarities of thematism and compositional principles of the formation of Viennese dramatic symphonism, which was strongly influenced by the ideas of the pre-romantic direction" Sturm und Drang " and the figurative expressiveness of opera and oratorio music. The analysis of the score of symphony No. 26 allows us to trace the process of gradually overcoming the principles of the old-sonata form through a new intonation and harmonic content, which initiates new expressive means and development techniques leading to the pinnacle achievements of classical symphonism.
Keywords: symphony, sonata form, minor fret, minor scale, drama, the era of "Storm and onslaught", expressive complex.
