Music and Time Annotation << Back The Art of the Piano Ensemble in the European Musical Culture of the XX Century and its Influence on the Formation of Piano Ensemble Music Making in China Mao Qian The article reveals the essence of the transformations that the art of piano ensemble music making underwent in Europe in the XX century, including, first of all, repertory and functional metamorphoses. Describing the main types of piano ensemble music making and the genres of the corresponding original musical works, the author comes to the conclusion about the permanent expansion of the functionality of this art as a conglomerate of educational and concert performing practices and especially highlights the function of the piano ensemble as a space for composers experiments in the field of genre-style and technical-performing innovations. The second part of the article is devoted to the art of piano ensemble music making in China, which is largely based on the European experience. The author identifi es signifi cant differences in the way of its development as a cultural borrowing, forced to undergo a complex process of adaptation to the realities of the Chinese national musical culture, which signifi cantly influenced its ideological, not to mention aesthetic essence. Thus, the material of the article allows us to understand more deeply, using the example of the art of piano ensemble music making, the essence and potential of the influence of European musical culture, as well as the specifi cs of the transformations of genre-style systems and performing schools from the perspective of an intercultural dialogue between European and Chinese cultures.
