Genre Basis, Thematic Content and Melodic Language of Vocal Miniatures With an Expanded Cast of S. Ibragimova
A.E. Karimova-Zakariyya

The presented research is devoted to the study of the genre basis, thematic content and melodic language of vocal miniatures with an expanded composition of performers of the outstanding Azerbaijani composer Sevda Ibrahimova. Vocal miniatures, which occupy a special place in the creative heritage of S. Ibragimova, are characterized by two forms of performing composition: vocals with an accompanying piano part and a wider composition. The extended cast of performers, in turn, varies very differently, in accordance with the content of each specific work. In total, the composer has written 12 vocal miniatures, the performance of which has been expanded. From the point of view of thematic content, most of these works are miniatures dedicated to the memory of individual outstanding personalities, each of which is one of the symbols of national culture and character. An important place among the vocal miniatures of S. Ibragimova with an expanded performing composition is taken by the themes of the Motherland and lyrical themes. The genre basis of these works is very diverse: lullabies, lyric and patriotic songs. All these genres are represented both in Azerbaijani musical folklore and in national composing. Thus, S. Ibragimova’s address to them symbolizes the continuation of the author’s traditions of national music - folklore and academic. From the point of view of the melodic content, songs with an extended performing composition are characterized by the following features: the location of the culmination - the melodic peak at the end, as well as the dominance of intonation features characteristic of Azerbaijani traditional musical works: humming, brevity of phrases, a narrow range, the dominance of development based on graduation and repetition.
Keywords: song, genre, thematic, melody, content.
