A.P. Panov
The article is dedicated to the memorable date of the birth of the great Soviet conductor Alexander Shamilevich Melik-Pashayev, People’s Artist of the USSR, who worked at the Bolshoi Theater for more than 30 years – from 1931 to 1964. He staged such operas as "Tosca" by Puccini, "Huguenots" by Meyerbeer, "Othello", "Aida", "La Traviata" by Verdi, "Carmen" by Bizet, "Faust" and "Romeo and Juliet" by Gounod, "Sadko", "The Legend of the City of Kitezh "by Rimsky-Korsakov," Cherevichki","The Queen of Spades "by Tchaikovsky and others. He had an amazing gift – to feel the singer, live by his feelings, breathe with him. That is why, probably, many singers have kept a good memory of him and often came to the house of the Melik-Pashaevs even after his death. Politics and everything connected with it bypassed him. He was a pure musician who devoted himself to his work, in addition to this – a composer, pianist, teacher.
