Olga Apraksina: Becoming a Musician and a Teacher |

A significant number of publications are devoted to the life and work of Olga Apraksnaya ( 1910–1990), a well-known scientist in the field of music pedagogy of secondary schools. However, they do not reflect enough on the period of her formation as a musician and teacher. The purpose of the article is to fill this gap, analyze Apraksina’s years of study in professional educational institutions and the beginning of her pedagogical work. Based on the study of archival sources, it is established that the time of the future scientist’s classes at the Ivanovo-Voznessensk musical College was an important milestone in her knowledge of the methodological and practical aspects of school music education. An exceptional role in Apraksina’s professional development was played by her studies at the Moscow Conservatory, where she received а fundamental musical and pedagogical training. The beginning of her independent pedagogical activity was associated with teaching at the Sverdlovsk Conservatory. The conclusion is made – the experience accumulated by Apraksina during her studies and high school work became the basis on which her subsequent professional activity was based.
