Music and Time Annotation << Back Languages of culture as a component of national stylistics in the «Jewish Antiquities» by N. Sidelnikov V.B. Khoroshavina This article is devoted to the analysis of the series of works "Antiquities of the Jews" by Nikolay Sidelnikov in terms of author’s national stylistics. The Composer uses elements of Jewish identity in his works. He also applies parts of ancient Jewish culture in terms of intonation and rhythm usage. The master enriches his series with those special oriental shades by using a hemiol scale, a tertian intonation and a major second. Nikolay Sidelnikov pays great attention to implementing spiritual lyrics into his musical narration. It has been highlighted that the composer uses not only elements of national identity but implements different techniques and styles, for example, sonority, jazz elements, national crying, into his works. All this points to a harmonious combination of different cultures in Sidelnikov’s works.
