L.V. Romodina, V.V. Osipov
The proposed analytical interview with the composer Vladimir Rubin, taken by L.V. Romodina on March 13, 2015, contains reflections on music and musicians, domestic education, and presents facts and autobiographical information related to the composer's creative destiny. The story contains information about the years of training and teachers who contributed to the development of his professional qualities and musical taste. Among them: A. Gondelweiser (piano), A. Gedike (organ), N. Anosov (conducting), P. Lamm (chamber ensemble), N. Peiko (composition). The article contains information about the art education of that time, which, according to V. Rubin, represented "a great cultural-educational process". Among the people mentioned in the interview are the composer’s friends G. Sviridov, B. Tchaikovsky, G. Galynin, A. Chugaev, and R. Bunin, who strongly supported his creative aspirations at an early stage of his professional career. According to the composer himself, he gravitated to song and vocal genres, wrote operas, oratorios, chamber and choral works, and music for children's performances. The author refers to the peculiarities of his own style in music as long forms, attention to the word, tonal organization and drama. The composer’s search led him to a spiritual theme. In the oratorios "Song of Ascent", "Songs of love and death", "Be merciful", in the vocal-symphonic cycle "guardian angel", a "new religiosity" is traced, which is only indirectly connected with the Church Canon, and is more a translation of high moral ideals. And, filled with meaning, the composer's statements that he performed with an "open visor", "was free from everything", came "out of the basement into a bright world of great height and extraordinary depth", and "was hooked to the nerve of longing" for "high spiritual faith", reveal a new facet of creativity. Vladimir Rubin carries his art high, with a sincere faith in the power of the Russian soul, with a piercing aesthetic note and the joy of knowing God, and his entire life in his work is a spiritual feat.
