Music and Time Annotation << Back Union of composers of the RSFSR – a look through some events in the history of I – VII congresses E.A. Soboleva The article is devoted to the history of the musical public organization "Union of composers of the RSFSR" (UC RSFSR) in the period from 1960 to 2000. Based on the analysis of the main events planned and held between the I–VII congresses, the assessment of the activities of the UC is given, the expediency of its influence and control over the musical life of Russia is considered. The allocated period of history of the Union is defined as the period of prosperity that is expressed in the large–scale administrative activity stimulating development and distribution of musical culture in all regions of RSFSR. The article notes that the Union of composers, being an organization subsidized by the state, had ample opportunities to create conditions for the development of composer’s creativity, including in the regions, supporting the pluralism of styles and trends in the work of young composers. Also, setting the task of promoting the art of music, the UC of the RSFSR managed to consolidate the musical forces of Russia to solve the problem of increasing the level of musical culture of the masses, which allows us to appreciate the work of the organization in the period under review.
