Music and Time Annotation << Back Wedding group lamentations of the east and central part of the Novgorod region in the recording of the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory I.V. Korolkova The article presents a number of facts that make it possible to present the existence of wedding group lamentations in various regions of the Eastern and Central Novgorod region. These facts were discovered in the folklore expeditions of the St. Petersburg Conservatory (head - Anatoly Mekhnetsov) in 1988-1989. The study revealed the syncretic nature of the local tradition of crying. Group and individual forms of crying have minimal differences on the performing, poetic, musical levels. The author suggests that East and Central Novgorod is a special area where the process of creating ways of mourning was carried out.
