Music and Time Annotation << Back In Dialogue with Bach: Emblems in the Baroque Sonatas for Violin Solo of XX Century S.I. Nesterov The purpose of this article is to establish multilateral relationships of Sonata for solo violin composers of the twentieth century, emblematic of the Baroque period and its embodiment in metacусles sonatas and partitas of I. S. Bach for solo violin. The metacycles of sonatas by M. Reger, op. 42 and op. 91, two sonatas for violin solo by P. Hindemith, op. 32, Sonata for violin solo by B. Bartók, and R. Shchedrin's Echo Sonata, which are considered by the author, demonstrate a wide use by composers of the 20th century. For the first time in musicology the author proves that these works actively dialogize with the concept of Bach metacycle. This expands the content aspects of the sonatas, allows composers to build large-scale philosophical and ethical concepts that reflect the conflicts of the modern artist-Creator and civilization, the deep problems of Life and Death, the search for the meaning and purpose of human existence.
