Storybook-based lessons as a method of children’s creative potential development: following on from the piano coaching experience in a children’s music school |

The article touches upon the objectives of children music training and suggests the ways of breaking fresh ground in teaching
music. It provides a detailed overview of the problems children face when studying music and shows the way to deal with them
successfully. The article focuses on a storybook-based type of lesson as the activity which enables children to develop creative
thinking and acquire compulsory practical and theoretical skills simultaneously. The problems of creative potential development and
a student-centered approach are brought to the forefront. The author comes up with the child-friendly educational techniques for
rapid acquisition of theoretical knowledge and provides exclusive fairytales combining both learning material and instructive stories
about friendship, politeness, mutual assistance, mercy, unselfishness. The article contains visual materials and task examples.
