Music and Time Annotation << Back To the Problem of the Formula in Znamenny Chant I.A. Semenenok The article raises a question of znamenny chant and its formulas (patterns) as structural units which operates at different levels of verbal and musical texts. "The formula" definition is seen as the universal concept, which could mark any structurally separate and repeated melodic fragment of the chant. This concept could be also used in the analysis of the 4-parts russian choral settings of znamenny chant of the end of XVIIth – beginning of the XVIIIth centuries.
