Music and Time Annotation << Back Memories of Editing of the Soviet National Anthemand the National Anthem of the Russian Federation L.F. Dunaev The article structures information on various aspects of editing of the Soviet national anthem (1972 and 1977) and the national anthem of the Russian Federation (2001). The author discloses only the facts he witnessed or participated in personally. The article covers general arrangements of the editing process and creative competition particularly. It focuses on the basic sense of the edition, which was to retain intonation links of A. Aleksandrov with Glinka’s «Glory» and the traditional Russian folk songs, and to find proper tools to achieve solemnity of the melody without march-effect. The process of editing is illustrated with scores.
