Music and Time Annotation << Back Franz Liszt’s Concert Organ Works: Style, Genre, Composition D.L. Vitko The article is devoted to Franz Liszt’s concert organ works, which are considered as an integral style, genre and compositional phenomenon in the context of European organ music of the XIX century. We study the sources («heuristic models») of Franz Liszt’s organ works programming the artistic unit and the methods of their art implementation in terms of the individual composer's style. Considerable attention is given to the features of dramatic compositional organization, uniting Baroque forms and Romantic poem. The universal value of the most important methods in constructing of a holistic composition for organ, piano and symphonic works is marked. The results of the work allow us to come to the conclusion that the originality of creative ideas and bright artistic singularity of Liszt’s organ works formed the basis of a new concert virtuoso style which had a significant impact on the development of organ art of the late XIXth and early XXth century.
