Music and Time Annotation << Back «Days of the Russian Culture» (From the History of the School Music Education for Children in Emigration) N.P. Mamaeva The article is devoted to the musical education of children in emigration. Upbringing of children in the spirit of national traditions, preservation of national and cultural identity, comprehension of the values of Russian culture – these and other problems were typical for the social and pedagogical thinking of Russian abroad. The celebration of the «Days of Russian Culture» in terms of emigration has become an important cultural and educational event. Carrying out these days helped to educate the younger generation in the spirit of love for motherland and to keep in touch with the cultural heritage and historical past. Organization of the «Days of Russian Culture» was an effective form of initiation of children to the native musical culture. The exceptional role was assigned to the studying of Russian folk song as the main means of national education of children. At the same time, the «Days of Russian Culture» helped to integrate Russian children into the different cultural environment keeping their «national identity».
