Rachmaninov: the Image of «the Traveling Soul» in the Light of Symbolical Aspects of «Ophelia`s Complex» M.A. Chershintseva This article is continuation of two previous and part of the cycle of articles devoted to clarification of the hidden symbolical meanings of two brightest artifacts of late romanticism – the picture «Die Toteninsel» of A. Beklin and the symphonic poem «Island of the Dead» of S.V. Rachmaninov. While Explaining art and symbolical aspect in previous articles, we concerned a question of philosophical and symbolical interpretation of «Island of the Dead», speaking, first of all, about the «symbolical reconstruction» which is carried out by one of the first S.V. Rachmaninov, copying as a method of creative work with the figurative and symbolical dominants put by Arnold Beklin – a method prompted and realized by himself. Besides, earlier it was talked of the archetypic and mythological bases of a plot which are of special interest in connection with a cultural demand of the allegories recreated with their help, attractiveness and at the same time – deep mystery of the symbolization hidden in them. In the offered article we will make an attempt to make next (from articles conceived for a cycle, but not from possible in general) «round» of «reconstruction», we will consider symbolical aspects of an image of the «soul» traveling on a next world waters in comparison to the «Ophelia’s complex» (G. Bashlyar) correlating with the chosen art and philosophical aspects of images of «water», «death», «travel» put in picturesque and musical options of a plot of «Island of the Dead».
