Music and Time Annotation << Back The Present and the Past in Moscow Church Singing Repertoire I.M. Varapaeva The author of the article carries out the musicological analysis of the «Anthology of Canticles of All-night vigil» (1915) now stored in the museum of Moscow St. Daniel Monastery. There are works of great and well-known authors – P.I. Tchaikovsky, A.A. Arkhangelsky, A.D. Kastalsky, P.G. Tchesnokov, G.F. Lvovsky, A.V. Nikolsky, D.V. Allemanov, priesthood Nafanail (Bachkalo) and others. Donated to Bishop Feodor (Pozdeevsky) by the students of the Moscow Theological Academy, this collection brings together the best contemporary musical chants, sung in The Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra, and in many other well-known mansions. The collection is still relevant in the repertoire of the Festival Choir of St. Daniel Monastery. The author also examines the genre affiliation chants, their meaningful form process and the style of musical language. On the basis of the performed research the author determines the interaction between singing traditions of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra and St. Daniel Monastery of the pre-revolutionary period.
