Mauricio Kagel: Periodization of Creativity in the Light of the Composer’s Stylistic Standards |

The article is devoted to one of the leaders of the post-modern avant-garde music of the second half of the twentieth century – the German composer Mauricio Kagel (1931–2008). An attempt to create a periodization of the composer. Each of the three periods identified has its own stylistic standards: 1 (early) period is characterized by eclectic, seeking their own language, using all kinds of techniques and varied musical writing tools, 2 (central) period – passion multilevel intertextuality (musical and verbal), the synthesis of the arts, the consequence which was the invention of the genre of instrumental theater (performance variations), 3 (late) period – a more traditional and religious as compared with others. A special place is given to the aesthetic views of the composer. As examples, the analytical opus «Sound», «Finale», «Liturgy», «The Tower of Babel – a melody for solo voice».
